1Flourish's Keys to Creating Excellent Company Culture

On hiring
Hire people with the exceptional character traits of honesty, trustworthiness, high integrity, transparency, courage, perseverance, humility, compassion, and forgiveness.
Find and develop ideal team players
Ideal team players have three key attributes:
  1. They are Humble. No excessive egos and focused on team success.
  2. They are Hungry. They persevere and are driven to succeed.
  3. They are People Smart. They know how to be flexible and work with people.
On establishing core values
Develop clearly worded core values that are well documented, published, repeated, reinforced, celebrated, and rewarded.
Build organizational health through clarity and repetition
Develop organizational health by building a cohesive leadership team, then creating clarity (see below), overcommunicating clarity, and reinforcing and rewarding clarity.
Create cohesive teams
Healthy organizations have cohesive teams. Cohesive teams are built on:
  • Trust through honesty and openness
  • Engaging in constructive debate
  • Committing to clear decisions
  • Holding one another accountable for behavior and performance
  • Focusing on collective results
Create clarity
Clarity is the result of answering these questions clearly:
  • Why do we exist? (What is our purpose?)
  • How do we behave? (What are our core values that employees must share?)
  • What do we do? (What is our business?)
  • How will we succeed? (What is our core strategy?)
  • What is most important now? (What is our current focus, objectives shared across the leadership team?)
  • Who must do what? (Creating clear roles, responsibilities, goals and objectives/KPIs)
Communication and repetition
Regularly communicate and repeat, reinforce and reward in meetings, performance reviews, events, and awards.
Tone at the top:
The CEO and leadership team need to demonstrate and “live out” the character traits and values above in what they do and say.
